_"I sat him down before me and with one hand on his right shoulder and the other on the lumber region of the spine I could feel the anger of pain in his back and also see where the offending cartilage was exerting pressure on the nerves emerging from the spinal column"

The Healing Heat

Picture
It is an almost universal experience of healers when treating organic afflictions to be aware of a sensing of strong heat emulating from the healer's hand into the patient, who becomes conscious of it's penetration in depth. When a thermometer is placed between the hand and the body there is no recorded rise in the temperature though both the healer and patient are aware of it's presence. This heat is, therefore, not clinical, but it is factual.

This heat obviously represents a force. The healer cannot create it at will, in fact, if he moves his hand away from the affected area then the sensation of heat vanishes, only to return when the hand again comes back to the affected part.

This is significant, for it implies that the super-normal force being directed through the healer only operates where there is a reason for it's acceptance. No one is able to create an increase in temperature in one small part of the body, i.e. the hand, by will-power in a portion of a minute, or to induce fluctuation of it, as described - it is something additional, experienced only in healership.

" . . . Instruction was given to 'talk' to the limbs, and so encourage the nerves to carry the message from the patient's mind along the nerves to induce action."

The Power of the Mind

Place a long plank but a foot wide on the ground; one will walk along it quite easily with perfect balance and even making fancy steps. Elevate the plank, say, three feet high, and the imagination starts to create apprehension and fear, but not strong enough to obstruct the will-power to walk the plank.

When the plank is raised to a considerable height, the imagination becomes so much stronger creating such  fears that despite all the will-power one has, the crossing will not be attempted. The imagination has vision of all sorts of hazards; the wind would cause swaying; stumbling; loss of balance; fear of giddiness; the ill-effects of falling and of being killed.

Self Healing

Picture
At first, try the simplest experiment, by being conscious of the activity in a finger. Try to sense the pulsation of the blood through it or the sense of feeling and temperature. In doing this you are giving the instruction from you mind to the brain to report back to your mind the messages the brain receives from your finger.

It may be that you 'feel' the personality of the finger in a number of ways. It may appear to get larger, warmer, and even a tingling effect from the nerves like subdued pins and needles. Whatever experience you receive hold on to it and be conscious of it - sustaining it. Do not dismiss this as imagination. It is a mental experience that your mind is receiving, at your request.

If you succeed with one finger then try it with another. What you are actually accomplishing is the linking up of your mind and the brain receptivity of the finger's condition and thence with the bodily intelligence.

"Absent healing is healing from a distance. The only connection between them is that of thought. The healer may know the patient's name, where he lives, the nature of the sickness and that is all - but even this information is not essential. Absent healing is as effective as contact healing. "

"Just as a mind that is absorbed by esoteric values will find it difficult to appreciate a material conception, so it is that a person who insists on evaluating spirit science by the methods used to investigate physical science, will not succeed."
